A life application of Mark Schultz’ song, He Will Carry Me.

“Even though I’m walking through the valley of the shadow / I will hold tight to the hand of Him whose love will comfort me / And when all hope is gone and I am wounded in the battle / He is all the strength that I will ever need / He will carry me…” ~Mark Schultz, He Will Carry Me from Stories & Songs

Why do we get married?  Why should we pursue marriage?  This article attempts to answer the latter from a Biblical perspective.

Our purpose as Christians here on earth is to glorify God and exalt His name above all. Thus, when it comes to marriage, we should only initiate that process if we see that together, a man and a woman can better glorify the Lord than can each individually, separately. This concept deduces further to encompass the consideration of who one should date or take interest in.

Not Recommended. Who you are depends on the effect The Passion of the Christ will have on you. For the Christian, it may show you how Jesus physically gave His utmost to redeem us. But for the unsaved, it is utter brutality, lacking a clear spiritual context and needing a thorough preface.

Summary:

The Passion of the Christ inspires a variety of emotions and conclusions among those who view it. For some, it seems to help them understand the deep love of God by showing how much Jesus suffered. For others, it may well confuse or repulse them by its sheer brutality — forgive the repetition of this word, but nothing else quite describes it.

All mankind seeks security in day-to-day life, but what the unsaved world is ignorant of, is that Christ alone is the key and only solution to this dilemma.  This article presents this case with the support of Scripture.

Whether we realize it or not, we all often seek or place our security in things, circumstances, lifestyles, or relationships. Each of these can rightly give joy and peace to us as believers, but that derived joy and peace needs to be accessory joy and accessory peace. An accessory is an optional addition to a base product such that it cannot stand alone and does not solely contain the functionality of the base product. For example, a car with no accessories has the windows necessary to drive and see one’s surroundings. If we add a moon roof, it will give us a new and enjoyable view, but the moon roof alone is insufficient to operate the car. As children of God, our security and joy must first be found in and founded upon Him. He is the only all-sufficient and unchanging part of our lives. Possessions will be broken or lost. Circumstances will change in the blink of an eye. Lifestyles will be turned upside down. And relationships will fail to provide perfect satisfaction. For this reason, Christ said, “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness; and all these things will be added to you” (Matthew 6:33).

Beginning a relationship can be difficult and may end in rejection several times before “success”.  How are we as Christians supposed to handle that rejection?

If a believer is seeking the Lord in each aspect of his or her life, particularly relationships, what should he or she do with rejection?
